Senior Engineers – Water Infrastructure (Hydraulic / Mechanical / Electrical)

Seeking experienced Senior Engineers across Hydraulic, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines to support a major South Australian Government program of works within the water and wastewater sector.

These roles are offered on a casual basis with full-time hours (37.5 per week) for an initial 12-month assignment, with an ASAP start.

Location: Adelaide (Victoria Square)

About the Role

You will be engaged in engineering studies, design, and technical advisory work supporting water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pipelines, and pump stations. Roles are primarily office-based at Victoria Square, Adelaide, with occasional site visits (particularly for Electrical roles).

Senior Engineer – Hydraulic

  • Proven hydraulic design experience within the water industry (essential)
  • Strong experience across water and wastewater treatment systems
  • Proficiency with WaterGEMS (essential)
  • Solid understanding of design criteria for:
    • Wastewater treatment plants
    • Pipelines and associated wastewater equipment
  • Knowledge of material selection differences between water and wastewater systems (e.g. pump systems)
  • Mechanical design experience is transferable, however hydraulic water-sector experience is non-negotiable
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia

Senior Engineer – Mechanical

  • CPEng accreditation
  • Demonstrated experience within the water industry, ideally across:
    • Pipelines
    • Pump stations
    • Water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Proven capability in the design and specification of mechanical systems, including:
    • Pumps
    • Valves
    • Filtration systems
  • Strong hydraulic knowledge preferred, particularly in:
    • Pump selection
    • Surge modelling and mitigation
    • Sizing of surge vessels, PSVs, and PRVs

Senior Engineer – Electrical

  • Strong experience in electrical design within infrastructure environments
  • Ability to undertake occasional site visits (approximately once per month, project dependent)
  • Experience within water or wastewater projects highly regarded
  • Capability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams

Essential for All Roles

  • Experience within the water and/or wastewater sector
  • Ability to work in a government environment
  • Strong technical documentation and stakeholder engagement skills
