Safety Advisor

Our client is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support delivery of the Mt Barker infrastructure project for a 9 month contract with potential extension.

This role will play a key part in maintaining a strong safety culture across site operations, ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, and supporting project teams working on major road upgrades and intersection works.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience on major road and transport infrastructure projects, with strong knowledge of civil construction safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day WHS support to site teams and subcontractors
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and safety systems
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Lead and facilitate toolbox talks and pre-start meetings
• Assist with development and review of SWMS, JHAs, and project safety documentation
• Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate safety records and reporting
• Support and promote a proactive safety culture across all site personnel
• Liaise with client representatives and regulatory authorities as required

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 3 years experience in a Safety Advisor role within civil construction
• Demonstrated experience on: Major road upgrades, Intersection construction projects and DIT (Department for Infrastructure and Transport) major road and transport infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation and codes of practice
• Experience working under principal contractor safety frameworks
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong reporting and documentation capabilities
