We are seeking a highly capable Electrical Engineer to act as a technical specialist across a large and complex infrastructure environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute at a strategic and operational level, providing expert technical leadership, governance, investigation, design and advisory services across major infrastructure assets.
About the Role
As a senior practitioner within the Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls discipline, you will provide high-level technical expertise across the full asset lifecycle. You will lead Safety in Design (SiD) processes, contribute to technical standards and governance, and support multidisciplinary teams to deliver best-for-business, fit-for-purpose outcomes.
This is a key technical leadership position within a collaborative engineering environment focused on safety, innovation and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist investigation, concept and detailed design support for electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Conduct technical audits and ensure compliance with standards and governance requirements.
- Lead Safety in Design (SiD) processes across projects and asset lifecycle stages.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across the organisation.
- Support the review and development of technical standards and guidelines.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Contribute to operational, maintenance and condition-based monitoring strategies.
- Conduct site audits and champion continuous improvement in engineering standards.
- Identify and assess emerging technologies for potential adoption.
- Provide technical mentoring, knowledge sharing and support within discipline forums.
About You
You are a technically strong and safety-focused engineering professional with a collaborative mindset and the ability to influence outcomes across multidisciplinary teams.
Essential Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Instrumentation and/or Controls Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation or eligibility to obtain CPEng by 30 June 2026.
- Demonstrated capability as a Subject Matter Expert within Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of EIC engineering practices within large infrastructure or utility environments.
- Experience delivering complex and critical engineering investigations and designs.
- Experience developing and reviewing technical and infrastructure standards.
Desirable:
- Experience in investigation, options analysis, concept and detailed design within the water or heavy infrastructure sector.
- Exposure to installation and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation and control infrastructure.
- Experience auditing designs prepared by others.
