Senior Finance Team Leader

Our client, a South Australian Government organisation, is seeking an experienced Finance Team Leader to join their team on an initial 8 week temporary assignment, with a strong likelihood of extension.

This is a senior finance opportunity with a strong focus on financial forecasting, budget management and financial analysis. Working closely with senior leaders, you will provide high level financial advice and insights to support planning, financial performance and informed decision making.

You will also provide leadership and support to a small finance team while contributing to the broader financial management of the organisation.

About the role

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the development and delivery of budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reporting processes
• Provide high level financial advice to senior leaders around budget planning, financial performance and emerging risks
• Undertake complex financial analysis, including cost and revenue reviews, to support business decisions and savings targets
• Oversee financial systems, governance and risk controls and ensure compliance with relevant requirements
• Lead finance related projects and initiatives, including improvements to financial models and business processes
• Prepare and coordinate financial reporting for senior and external stakeholders
• Lead and support a small finance team, including performance management, development and cross skilling
• Work with key stakeholders to improve financial understanding and accountability across the organisation
• Coordinate financial statement information and support annual financial review processes
• Review audit findings and implement improvements to strengthen financial governance and internal controls

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Strong experience in financial forecasting and budget management
• Experience managing organisational or significant project budgets
• Strong financial analysis, modelling and reporting capability
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data
• Strong understanding of financial governance, risk and compliance
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence providing financial advice and recommendations to senior leaders
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or business
• Power BI capability highly regarded
• Previous South Australian Government experience highly regarded
